Nick Gordon’s girlfriend Laura Leal has dropped the assault and battery charges against him following his June domestic violence arrest. Leal, who initially told police her boyfriend beat her during a drunken argument, has now requested that a judge dismiss the case.

Gordon became well-known after he was found legally responsible for the death of former girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was found unresponsive in the bathtub of their home in 2015. This past June, he was arrested in Florida on domestic battery and false imprisonment charges after allegedly turning violent while accusing current girlfriend Leal of cheating. Leal later said in a police statement that her boyfriend repeatedly punched her in the face and head over the course of several hours while pinning her to the bed.

Gordon, however, is now walking away from all the charges as his girlfriend no longer wants to cooperate with investigators. In a statement furnished to Gossip Cop, the Office of the State Attorney said, “Ms. Leal became unhappy with the criminal justice process and repeatedly demanded that our office abandon the prosecution of Mr. Gordon. Ms. Leal provided a written declaration of non-prosecution, made repeated verbal demands to drop the case, and ultimately voiced her desire not to have Gordon prosecuted in a letter sent to the presiding judge.”

The State Attorney’s office further noted that Leal had also offered “conflicting accounts of the original incident,” and seeing as she’s the only witness to the alleged crime, prosecutors have decided “the case could not proceed to trial.” The statement also revealed, “Our office sought and obtained proof that sanctions requiring Mr. Gordon to undergo a four hour Anger Management Course and a four hour Alcohol and Substance Abuse Course had been successfully completed prior to filing the notice of no prosecution.”
